Hi Andy,

You are correct, must be inverted and pulling to get the +1G from gravity and the aircraft incurs drag at the G used. In you example it would be 2G drag and 3G facing requirement. You can choose to use only 2G and not use the help from gravity. That would be similar to extending a facing change.

Aircraft in level or climbing do not meet this requirement and do not get the G from gravity.
