Training game starting in a couple of weeks

RE: Training game starting in a couple of weeks
I think I'd like a Fokker DII, if we stay with scenario 15. I have a very mild preference for basic rules, as this is only my second game, but I'll defer to the group if they want to add the bells & whistles.

Show yourself a brave man, as a Spartiate should; and do you, allies, follow him like men, and remember that zeal, honor, and obedience mark the good soldier.

Only my second game so perhaps just basic for now? At a push I could probably try and soak up Advanced if there's a consensus to try them out.

I'm happy to play either side.

Cheers

Cool.
No preference on side...
Better start to get flying practice :-C

I'm used to Vassal and Yahoo groups from my FW games, so no problem on that side neither.

However, I more is required. Any takers? If not it opens up a few more scenarios I think, so the above doesn't have to be set in stone :-)

Whatever scenario we play, what level of difficulty do players want? Basic, advanced, optional rules?

Cheers

Drew

Just realized that on the map setup. North is pointing towards an hex vertex, but all the vassal maps have the hex "flat", it's a silly question but might drive to confusion. I'm guessing that we setup the "North" at the right side of the map.

Am I right ?

Hi Pablo,

The Vassal maps have no set north direction. Use the Compass Rose and rotate as needed. It allowed more flexibility when designing scenarios Wink

I've used the Fokker D-II before. Gyroscopic precession is not too bad. The rate of roll is not stellar, but it is a serviceable enough aircraft. Not great, but not a piece of Rhino poop either. I tangled with a pair of pushers, if my memory serves me. Good fight.

Always be sure that you have a good dicebot for PBEM. I did encounter a person who was quite miffed when I would not happily accept him physically rolling dice then reporting the results in an email. Dicebots, like my personal favorite:

make every roll, like Caesar's wife, above reproach.

RE: Training game starting in a couple of weeks
I would like to try a british kite if there is still room.

Basic rules is OK for me but we might agree on some of the advanced as well to try to put some more juice without compromising playability for newbies.

My votes are for :

- Throttle settings (14.9 - 14.11)
- Snap rolls (22.10)

There are other that I would like to re-read & try couple of times before to play with as
- Transitions during movement (18.7)
- Applied / Effective G transitions / turns
- Vertical Rolls (22.6)
- Jinking /DP flight (22.7-8)

What do you think?

Cheers

RE: Training game starting in a couple of weeks
Hi All

Updated seating plan:
Ross - DH2
Andrew
Pablo - DH2
Andy
Drew - Fokker DII

Just to confirm, we will use dicebot, if everyone is ok with that?

We still need one more pilot, if anyone else is reading this and is interested

As for optional rules, throttle and snap rolls seem straight forward enough, so I don't see why we shouldn't include them. Any more for ant more?

Cheers

RE: Training game starting in a couple of weeks
Hi Drew,

If nobody else steps in, I would be glad to fill the open slot.
No preference about side or advanced rules, just tell me what we'll use and I'll conform.

Cheers,

Olivier
